For this year, we have four concrete goals:
– fund two “kangaroo” chairs, which allow parents to spend many hours of quality time with their baby, and give them the vital skin-to-skin contact.
– fund “froggies”, special positioning aids that allow for a more comfortable position of the baby – and all the tubes attached to it – in the incubator.
– fund additional covers for the incubators, that help drown out noise and light, and allow for a more restful sleep for the babies.
– fund copies of the book “Kikker en het Vogeltje” by Max Velthuijs, which have been written to help children come to grips with losing a sibling. These books will be part of the “memory box” that the NICU staff hand over to the families of babies who pass away.
